I just updated my demoreel to the 2007 reel- it’s very similar to the old one with a few new things, and it’s (sorry) re-encoded from the DVD reel- I couldn’t find my original source project (whoops).
I’m using the cortado applet from flumotion to stream the .ogg source. I’m not terribly sure this is the right thing ™ to do, since I have trouble on my own machine viewing it (audio cuts out sometimes), and I’m not sure how many people can view it. I also have the .ogg, an avi and mp4 for download.
So if anyone reading this knows if there is an intersection of open source/patent free and playable easily on linux/windows/macos way to embed video on a page, let me know! I might end up using flash/flowplayer, or quicktime-style embedding (mplayerplugin can handle this on linux) but there is still the small matter of codecs.

Have fun …

Hm, try this, this is a free flv player and I think this is the best way to do your job on the internet. http://www.jeroenwijering.com/?item=JW_FLV_Media_Player
Let me know what do you think about! Thanks

Thanks, Owen. Well, I used flowplayer (another free swf player) in the past for multiple projects, but I’m actually having difficulties with flash on my own machine lately- the adobe plugin crashes with depressing regularity, so I switched to sfwdec - it’s nice : low cpu usage, stable, but it doesn’t support 100% of flash features yet, so some sites don’t work anymore.
this is making me hesitate to use flash anymore, but maybe I will- so long as I can see it on my own machine!

Hi Owen, yes, a nice video “standard”- even a non-exclusive one, that works on all platforms would be a godsend.
I’m actually doing better with flash now; I installed swfdec (an open-source flash decoder) and it doesn’t crash at all (and uses less cpu). It works on youtube and many video players, but not every single flash site works right (I guess they have still a good but incomplete implementation).

Yes ! Good job Bassam, Nice for Flash intention but be carefull with Firefox users. Sometimes, Flash crashs a lot for some sites. And that, not only on Vista,Xp…^^

Only just realised you did the Chicken Chair. My son (3 1/2 and how many questions?) and I love it.
Just wanted to thank you (and for all the other stuff, Elephants Dream, tutorials in 3DWorld, Mancandy…one day I’ll have gone through them all!)
